We are proud to announce that Bernardo Cartoni will be chairing the drafting committee for the 2024 AI for Developing Countries Forum, scheduled for July 17-18 at the United Nations in Vienna. Bernardo, a respected member of CIRID and SCLA, brings his extensive expertise in international arbitration and his profound legal acumen to guide the discussions and outcomes of this significant event. His leadership in this role underscores the forum’s commitment to addressing key issues surrounding the ethical and sustainable integration of AI technologies in developing nations. Bernardo’s expertise is recognized worldwide, with his name featuring on the SHIAC Panel of Arbitrators and the HKIAC List of Arbitrators. His contributions extend across several global arbitral institutions including LCIA, SAC, AIA, AtlAS, ASA, Delos, MCN, and Lewiatan, showcasing his broad influence in the field of arbitration.

His academic contributions include insightful papers on critical arbitration issues, such as Third Party Funding in Hong Kong and Singapore, Witness Preparation, the Belt and Road Initiative and Dispute Resolution, Fast Track Arbitration during COVID-19, and an analysis of Arbitrator’s bias in the landmark cases of Halliburton and Sun Yang. Bernardo also serves on the Advisory Board of the Swiss Chinese Law Review.

Bernardo’s legal practice is focused on international disputes across commercial trade, M&A, IP rights, construction, sports, and maritime law. He is also skilled in contract negotiations. Beyond his professional endeavors, Bernardo dedicates time to nurturing the next generation of lawyers by volunteering as an arbitrator in the Vis Moot, Vis East Moot, and FDI Moot and participating in the AIAC Academy Tutors Panel.
