Claudia Jacy Barenco Abbas received her Computer Science degree from the Universidade Católica de Brasilia, holds an M.Sc. in Computer Science from Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, and a Ph.D. in Telecommunication Engineering from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. She has been a professor and researcher in countries including Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Venezuela, Spain, and Syria.

Since 2003, Claudia has been a professor at the University of Brasilia (UnB) in the Department of Electrical Engineering. She is also a business and technology advisor in the industry for companies such as Pix Force and Code Tech and is a Co-Founder of the startup C9TECH.

Claudia has been recognized with awards such as “Best Software” in 2004 from FINEP (Funding Authority for Studies and Projects), a Brazilian Federal Government organization under the Ministry of Science and Technology, where she has also served as a scientific consultant. She is a member of the scientific committee for various magazines and conferences and a Senior member at IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers).

She has published over 50 research papers in the area of Computer Networks in Scientific Magazines, Chapters of Books, and Papers of Conferences and has supervised more than 100 undergraduate and postgraduate theses.

Before entering the scientific field and academia, she worked as a programmer at a Brazilian governmental company called DATAMEC from 1987 until 1995, and as Director of hardware support at another Brazilian governmental company called DATAPREV in 1996.

Currently, Claudia’s main research and development interests include Wireless Sensor Networks, IoT (Internet of Things), Smart Cities, AI (Artificial Intelligence), and Web3 solutions (Blockchain, Metaverse, NFT, DeFi).
