Successful AI for Developing Countries Meetup Held in Vienna

Vienna, May 16, 2024 — The AI for Developing Countries (AIFOD) meetup was successfully organized in Vienna today, setting the stage for the highly anticipated main event at the United Nations in July. This preparatory session saw active participation from over 35 delegates representing both private and public sectors.

The meetup provided a collaborative platform for invited delegates to delve into critical discussions on a variety of issues pertinent to AI development and implementation in developing countries. Key topics included data security in AI, addressing cognitive bias in AI systems, and exploring necessary legal and judicial reforms to support AI integration.

Participants engaged in fruitful discussions on the challenges and opportunities presented by AI technologies. The sessions highlighted the importance of securing data in AI applications, ensuring ethical standards to mitigate cognitive biases, and reforming legal frameworks to keep pace with rapid technological advancements.

The insights and debates from this meetup will inform and enrich the upcoming AI for Developing Countries Forum at the United Nations Office in Vienna on July 17-18, 2024.
